Promenade with Elegance

Reception

Under the ingenious planning of Yu-Lin Shih, the Promenade with Elegance project creates a large ship carrying nature in the gloomy concrete jungle. A large number of organic materials are blended in the natural stone to make the open and bright space lively. The facade of the building is inlaid with rows of upright pipes, like a solemn pipe organ in the cathedral, welcoming all the guests and playing the natural flow of its own.

Entering the building, visitors are greeted by an open hall with large-area windows that showcase the elegant landscape of old pine trees outside. The high ceiling space is adorned with upright pipes that reflect each other on the outer wall, creating a unique lighting effect and enhancing the elegance of the pine trees. The theme wall made of natural stone adds a touch of contrast to the space.

The wooden staircase, paired with dark iron parts, seamlessly transitions the scenery from ancient and natural to the simplicity of modern city life. The stone and furnishings, based on a cool color palette, complement each other and are brought to life by natural light and clever lighting. Glass elements maintain the openness of the first floor while creating an intimate atmosphere, allowing guests to relax and immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.

The design of Promenade with Elegance posed several challenges, one of which was arranging the uncut stones in an orderly manner to showcase the roughness and vitality of nature. The designer also utilized sunlight penetrating through the stone wall to evoke thoughts of primitive cave life and its inherent vitality.

Completed in November 2020 in Taiwan, this project spans 661 square meters. It has garnered recognition and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to improve the quality of life and make the world a better place.
